Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis was left angry and frustrated following their disappointing 3-0 defeat at Hartlepool United.

“All of their goals have come from mistakes and we made some very poor decisions throughout the game” – Steve Davis

On loan striker Charlie Wyke and another former Middlesbrough forward Jonathan Franks were both on target before the break and substitute Andy Monkhouse claimed a late third for the relegation-threatened hosts, who in turn moved within six points of safety.

“There were some real disappointing performances for us tonight,” Davis admitted to Crewe’s official website. “We played well below what we are capable off and got what we deserved.

“All of their goals have come from mistakes in our play and we made some very poor decisions throughout the game,” he continued. “Once they scored their first goal we went backwards and couldn’t get ourselves in to the game.”
