Manager Steve Davis said Crewe Alexandra battled well to come away with a scoreless draw at Bury.

It was sufficient to lift the visitors away from bottom place in the table and be replaced by Colchester United.

“It was a real battling performance from us and we showed some resolve and courage to keep a clean sheet and that is another point for us,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “It is important. We haven’t been able to win either of the last two games but we haven’t lost them either.

“We showed that fight we will need to get out of the situation and the back four and the goalkeeper were terrific for us,” he added. “They started better than us in the first 10 minutes but after we came through that we came more into it and had some chances.”
