Manager Steve Davis admitted it hadn’t been great to watch but Crewe Alexandra still earned a second successive league triumph at Walsall.

“We’ve got a good record here. We felt good about today” – Steve Davis

Defender Adam Dugdale headed a late winner to move the bottom-of-the-table visitors now just a couple of points away from immediate safety.

“It was not a great spectacle. A game of few chances, but we just nicked it and deserved to win,” Davis told BBC Radio Stoke. “It’s lovely to have followed up last week’s win with another victory.

“We’ve got a good record here. We felt good about today,” he continued. “They’ve had some good results here. They drew with Bristol City, so to come here and win is a real plus.”
