Crewe Alexandra are without a game this weekend but already eagerly anticipating their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Northern Area final second-leg tie against Coventry City next Wednesday evening.

“If we play as well as we have done in the last few weeks then we have a chance of progressing” – Steve Davis

The Alex take a 3-0 lead into the clash following their excellent display at the Ricoh Arena last week, when a two-goal blast from Brad Inman allied to another by striker AJ Leitch-Smith gave them a clear advantage.

The Sky Blues have since lost the services of manager Mark Robins, who has moved onto Huddersfield Town after completely turning around Coventry’s fortunes since his September appointment.

“Now we have the chance to see the job through,” Alex boss Steve Davis told Crewe’s official website. “If we can keep our concentration and play as well as we have done in the last few weeks then we have a chance of progressing. It is the same for our remaining league games.”

The eventual winners meet either Leyton Orient or Southend United in the final at Wembley.
