Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Neil Baker expects his side to surpass last season’s efforts.

“Last year I think we did reasonably well, but we want to do better after a year in this league” – Neil Baker

The Alex eventually finished in a respectable mid-table position on their return to League One but Baker believes they can improve on that this time around.

“We will be looking to improve on last season, even though I think the league will be stronger this year because of the teams that have been promoted and relegated into it,” he told This is Staffordshire. “Last year was a tough season and I think we did reasonably well, but we want to do better after a year in this league.

“We have another year’s experience and that will definitely help us,” Baker added. “Some of our lads had only got one season of League Two under their belts last year when we were starting back in League One.”
