The wait goes on and on as the list of Stuart Fleetwood’s admirers grows by the hour. Crewe faxed their reported £175,000 bid to Forest Green Rovers on Monday but were told that an answer would not be given till a board meeting had taken place… on Friday, today.

Gresty Road still hasn’t heard from Forest Green though, believing it won’t be till later this evening at the earliest. Meanwhile, the chase for the Conference top scorer is hotting up. Charlton Athletic and Norwich City have since been linked with Fleetwood and Queens Park Rangers also seem to be keeping an eye on the situation.

Gillingham have tabled a bid – which they believe to be way below what Crewe have offered – and there is always the fact that Forest Green have in the past put a £300,000 price tag on their man.

So whilst it’s looking like the Alex have finally out bid everyone; will it be enough for Forest Green to be unable to resist? And when will we next hear of Fleetwood? Let’s hope a deal can be struck over the weekend.
