Crewe Alexandra have a two-point advantage over their relegation rivals going into the final game after a priceless 3-1 victory at Coventry City.

Striker Lauri Dalla Valle earned them the lead midway through the opening half and Ryan Colclough added a second before the break.

Marcus Haber headed another for the visitors with seventeen minutes remaining, with Nick Proschwitz snatching a late consolation.

The Sky Blues were themselves not safe from relegation and began strongly while creating a number of early opportunities.

That was until Dalla Valle tapped in his third goal in four games from Colclough’s cross, while twelve minutes later goalkeeper Lee Burge dropped another delivery and allowed Colclough to double the lead.

Coventry shuffled their pack with replacements from the bench but it was Haber heading in goal number three from Ollie Turton’s far post cross to ensure the destination of the points.

Five minutes from time, Jim O’Brien delivered a cross headed in by Proschwitz for a late consolation effort – but by then the job was already completed.
