Crewe Alexandra have announced that defender Perry Ng has committed his long-term future to the club and has signed a new deal that will expire in June 2021, his previous deal set to expire at the end of this season.
Ng, 22, spent time on loan at then-National League North Hyde during the second half of the 14/15 season before making his Alex debut against Oldham Athletic in November of the same year as a late substitute.
Last season was his breakthrough season as a first-choice defender, making 43 appearances in all competitions despite missing a few games due to suspension, and scored 4 times including the Alex’s Goal of the Season at Stevenage in March 2018.
Is this a good move for both Ng and the club?
Absolutely! He’s at a club that gives young players chances to play in the team and has grown to be a key member of the defensive unit whether that’s in his preferred centre-back position or filling in as a full-back and even in central midfield. The club retain a versatile member of the squad that has already played just under 100 appearances in the 3 years since his debut.
