Saturday’s referee Chris Sarginson has apologised to Port Vale for his apparent mistake on Saturday.
Vale fans are still fuming over what wasn’t even the worst refereeing mistake of the weekend when Gareth Owen conceded a penalty after taking both the ball and Clayton Donaldson with his last ditch tackle on the hour mark.
The penalty ultimately sealed all three points in a match that Vale, thankfully, aren’t too bothered about.
Vale manager Micky Adams was less than happy after the match and today revealed that he had spoken to Sarginson and received an apology.
‘We have spoken on the phone and the referee has apologised for his mistake.
‘He told me he made a mistake and it was a genuine mistake, but obviously it doesn’t change anything at all, it is all done with now.’
