Crewe Alexandra make a loss of £821,934 in the latest accounts published for the year ending June 2010.

The loss is the biggest made by the club for some time but comes as little surprise with Chairman John Bowler and majority shareholder Norman Hassall warning of significant losses in recent months.

The fall into the basement division with high earners and a big outgoing in the cost of the academy will have hit the club the hardest.

The sales of James Bailey and John Brayford, totalling £1million, seem to have only softened the blow for the Alex.
