|

Goals from Iliman Diaye, Kyron Gordan and Miguel Freckleton saw Sheffield United defeat Crewe Alexandra at the Alexandra Stadium this afternoon in the Under-23 Professional Development League.

Manager Lee Bell named Tom Booth in goal behind a back 4 of Sam Bhatti, Regan Griffiths, Charlie Finney and Lucas Sant. In midfield was a trialist, Owen Lunt, captain Oli Finney and Tyreece Onyeka while another trialist started up front with Connor Salisbury. On the bench were Matus Holicek, Joel Tabiner, Ben Wood and goalkeeper Jack Flint.

The opening chance of the game came in the 16th minute with Daniel Jebbison shooting over from Peck’s through ball before the visitors took the lead with 5 minutes left to play in the opening half with Jebbison’s cut-back finished by fellow striker Iliman Ndiaye from 8 yards out.

The second would come 7 minutes after the break with Gordan reacting first to Andre Brooks’ inswinging corner before fellow centre-back Freckleton would head home their third 15 minutes from time from another Brooks corner.

The next games at this level see a trip to Peterborough United a week on Wednesday (20th) before hosting Charlton Athletic a fortnight today (25th) at the Alexandra Stadium, both games kicking off at 1:00 pm.
