Goals from Hassan Ayari and Will Osula saw Sheffield United defeat Crewe Alexandra at Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium in the Under-23s Professional Development League last night.
With the first team also playing at the same time, manager Alex Morris named a young squad that was not made public but would have been mostly made up of the Under-18s that defeated Hull City in the FA Youth Cup on Sunday.
The opening goal of the game came in first-half stoppage-time with Ayari curling in a free-kick as Tom Booth would make a number of saves to deny the hosts adding to the scoreline until late in the game with Ayari turning provider for Osula to lob the ball over Booth.
The next games at this level see a trip to Wigan Athletic on Monday afternoon before hosting Hull on 10th January following the Xmas/New Year break, both scheduled for 1:00 pm kick-off.
