U23: Alex Gain Goalless Draw At Peterborough

|

Peterborough United and Crewe Alexandra would play out a goalless draw at London Road this afternoon in the Under-23s Professional Development League.

Manager Lee Bell named Tom Booth in goal behind a back 4 of Ty Webster, Connor O’Riordan, Lewis Billington and Sean Lawton. In midfield were Owen Lunt, Joel Tabiner and Finney while Matus Holicek and Max Woodcock started either side of Tyreece Onyeka in the front 3. On the bench were Ben Wood, Jack Nolan, Senior and goalkeeper Jack Flint.

The opening chance of the game came in the 20th minute with Kellen Hickinson’s free-kick going straight into the hands of Booth before O’Riordan would have an effort from the edge of the area minutes later.

The second half would see Webster test Blackmore early on before Booth would deny Joe Taylor after the forward would be played through by Roddy McGlinchey at the other end. Onyeka would have an effort saved by Blackmore with Taylor, Gabe Overton and Hickinson all having chances late on, the former hitting the post.

The next games at this level see Charlton Athletic travel to the Alexandra Stadium on Monday before Coventry City travel to Reaseheath the following Thursday, both games kicking off at 1:00 pm.
