U21: Alex Held To Home Draw Against Posh

|

A first-half goal from Rhys Allport gave Crewe Alexandra a share of the points in their home draw against Peterborough United at Reaseheath this afternoon.

Manager Michael Jackson named Tom Booth in goal behind a back 4 of Lewis Billington, Matthew Senior, Nathan Robinson and captain Charlie Finney. In midfield were Matus Holicek and Charlie Colkett while Max Woodcock, Calum Agius and Pharrel Leader-Williams started behind Allport up front. Lucas Sant, Stan Dancey, Joel Vincent, Mo Jatta and goalkeeper Travis Ziglam were on the bench.

The opening goal came in the 12th minute with Allport lobbing the ball over the Posh trialist keeper before Woodcock would have an effort saved by the same player a couple of minutes later. The visitors would hit the woodwork 4 minutes before the break as Gabriel Overton hit the bar on a follow-up to a Booth save.

The visitors would be level on 57 minutes as Malik Mothersille, on his 20th birthday, would score after Booth’s save before Agius would head a Billington cross wide 19 minutes later. Another cross from the full-back would be headed wide, this time by the Alex goalscorer,

The next couple of games at this level see the Alex on the road as they travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday 31st October before returning to Reaseheath to host Birmingham City on Monday 6th November – both games kicking off at 1:00 pm.
