|

A dominant performance from Swansea City’s Under-21s saw them defeat Crewe Alexandra this afternoon at the Swansea.com Stadium despite Nathan Robinson’s consolation in second-half stoppage time.

Manager Michael Jackson named Tom Booth in goal behind a back 4 of Lewis Billington, Billy Sass-Davies, Connor O’Riordan and Nathan Robinson. In midfield were Zak Kempster-Down, captain Regan Griffiths and Matus Holicek while Max Woodcock and Calum Agius started either side of Connor Evans up front. On the bench were Luca Moore, Rhys Allport, Jack Parry and Lewis Nolan and goalkeeper Travis Ziglam.

The opening goal was scored by the hosts in the 20th minute through right-back Sam Parker would get on to the end of a cross before forward Mykola Kuharevich had a couple of efforts just after the half-hour.

The second goal came on 50 minutes as a through-ball would be converted by Josh Ginnelly before the midfielder would set up the third 9 minutes later, his low cross converted by Kuharevich. Substitute Iwan Morgan added a fourth with 3 minutes to play before the Alex consolation came in stoppage time with Robinson scoring from substitute Allport’s pass.

The next couple of games at this level see the Alex host Colchester United next Monday (28th, 1:00 pm) before travelling to Millwall the following Tuesday (5th Sept, 2:00 pm).
