U21: Alex Ease To Victory Over Tigers

Goals from Ty Webster, Matus Holicek and Max Woodcock saw Crewe Alexandra defeat Hull City in the Under-21 Professional DevelopmentĀ  League at the Alexandra Stadium this afternoon.

Manager Michael Jackson named Tom Booth in goal behind a back 4 of Zak Kempster-Down, Sam Bhatti, captain Lewis Billington and Lucas Sant. In front of them were Charlie Finney and Owen Lunt with Ty Webster, HolicekĀ and Max Woodcock playing behind Connor Evans. Lewis Nolan, Sam Crolla, Nathan Robinson, Calum Agius and goalkeeper Jack Flint were on the bench.

The hosts opened the scoring on 38 minutes with Webster firing the ball in from inside the D before the lead was doubled 4 minutes later as Kempster-Down got in behind the Tigers’ full-back with his pull-back allowing Holicek to score from 12 yards out.

The third Alex goal came 2 minutes from time with substitute Agius squaring the ball for Woodcock to score from close range before the Hull consolation came in the final minute with substitute Jake Brown beating a couple of players before beating Booth from just inside the area.

The next games at this level see the Alex travel to Wigan Athletic a week tomorrow (1:00 pm kick-off) before travelling to Birmingham City a fortnight today (7:00 pm).
