U21: Alex Defeat Fleetwood In 10-Goal Thriller

Braces from Rhys Allport and Calum Agius helped Crewe Alexandra to defeat Fleetwood Town at Poolfoot Farm this afternoon with Max Woodcock and Ryan Cooney also on the scoresheet.

Manager Michael Jackson named Tom Booth in goal behind a back 4 of Cooney, Zak Dempster-Down, Lewis Billington and Charlie Finney. In midfield were captain Matus Holicek and Charlie Colkett while Woodcock, Agius and Aaron Rowe started behind Allport up front. On the bench were Nathan Robinson, Lewis Nolan, Matthew Senior, Jack Parry and goalkeeper Travis Ziglam.

The opening goal came in the 7th minute through Allport before Kyle White would equalise a minute later for the hosts. Theo Williams would give the hosts the lead in the 17th minute before the Alex levelled 3 minutes after the break, again through Allport.

Josh Edwards scored The Cod Army’s third before Woodcock would get the third Alex goal on 62 minutes. Agius would get the next couple of Alex goals on 64 and 68 minutes before Williams would get one back with a quarter-hour to go with Cooney closing the scoring with 9 minutes to play.

The next couple of games at this level see the Alex on the road as they travel to Wigan Athletic on Wednesday 11th October before returning to Reaseheath to host Peterborough United on Monday 23rd – both games kicking off at 1:00 pm.
