Barnsley came from behind to gain revenge for their midweek Capital One Cup exit to Crewe Alexandra.

Billy Waters was again on target for the hosts midway through the first-half but Leroy Lita levelled after the break.

Skipper Martin Cranie then headed in Conor Hourihane’s 75th minute corner for the winner.

The visitors appeared likely early on but were rocked when teenager Waters superbly volleyed in Greg Leigh’s cross for the opening goal.

Former Crewe trialist Sam Winnall had already been denied by Scott Shearer during the opening minutes – his header from Keith Treacy’s cross being fended over.

But he later provided the assist for Lita to tap in a 57th minute equaliser after Leigh had been caught in possession.

Home striker Vadaine Oliver then claimed for a penalty when being challenged by Cranie inside the area.

Goalscorer Lita was soon narrowly wide with an acrobatic effort before Cranie headed what proved the winner with fifteen minutes remaining.
