Ex-Crewe midfielder Justin Cochrane is attracting interest from several League One clubs. Cochrane had found his first team opportunities limited having fallen behind the likes of Lee Bell and Michael O’Connor in the midfield pecking order, resulting in a loan spell at Gillingham where he scored 1 goal in 5 appearances.

Since being told he will be leaving Crewe when his contract expires at the end of July, Cochrane has had trial spells at Luton and Yeovil. Despite scoring in his trial game for Luton, boss Mike Newell decided against signing the 24-year old midfielder, though Yeovil are believed to have been impressed by what they saw. Along with Yeovil, Rotherham and Brentford have also registered their interest in signing the free agent, though Brentford may have the upper hand due to Cochrane’s London roots.

Cochrane began his career at QPR, where he made just 1 appearance, albeit of just 5 minutes as he was sent off on his debut. The likeable Londoner then moved to FC Hayes, where Crewe’s assistant manager Neil Baker spotted the midfielder and handed him a trial. Cochrane also attracted the attention of Chelsea that summer, though Claudio Ranieri decided against signing the midfielder after a trial period. Instead, Cochrane signed for Crewe after a sensational trial period, involving a simply magnificient debut performance in a friendly against Everton.
