Former Peterborough left back Danny Blanchett is set to be offered a 12 month contract after impressing whilst on trial at Gresty Road.

Recently released by the Posh, the 23 year old will fill the left back spot that was left vacant following John Brayford’s departure in May.

Having risen through from non-league after being released as a youth player by QPR, Blanchett played for Hendon, Harrow and Cambridge before signing for Peterborough in 2007 for an undisclosed fee.

However he made just seven appearances for the League One club, eventually spending time out on loan at the likes of Hereford United and AFC Wimbledon last year.

Blanchett was one of two trialists fighting for the left back spot this month, with former loanee Chris Stokes also in the mix. However, as reported last night on Vital Crewe, Stokes’ trial was ended as he joined up with Walsall.
