Tranmere Sign Former Alex Defender Ellis

Tranmere Rovers have announced their first signing since getting promoted back into the Football League after Mark Ellis following his deal at Carlisle United expiring this summer, the club from the Wirral announced yesterday.

Ellis, 29, started his career with Bolton Wanderers without making a first-team appearance before joining Torquay United (a home-coming for Ellis as he was born in Devon) firstly on loan before a permanent transfer in the summer of 2008. After a 4-year spell with the Gulls, he joined the Alex where he enjoyed 2 seasons, including winning the EFL Trophy in April 2013 before playing for Shrewsbury Town and joining Carlisle initially on loan before making the deal permanent in 2016. He has made over 350 career apperances so far in his 11-year career.

Ellis has signed a 2-year deal with Rovers that will start on 1st July.
