The Alex have swooped to sign Ipswich winger Gary Roberts on a one-month loan and he should go straight onto the squad for tonights game at Leyton Orient.

As if some of the Alex players weren’t acting confused enough at the moment, Crewe have signed another Gary Roberts.

Roberts could line up along side his double name sake Gary in the Crewe midfield this evening as the Alex go in search of their second away win of the season.

Gary Roberts is believed to have been at Crewe as a youngster after leaving Liverpool but didn’t make the grade.

He then moved onto Accrington Stanley before joining Ipswich permanently in 2006. He is described as a winger who certainly has an eye for goal.

Crewe Vital would like to wish Gary Roberts all the best in his time with Crewe. Let’s hope this type of quality signing can spur the team out of the relegation scrap we are in and push up the table.

I’m not sure he ever was with us. Maybe at school boy level, but certainly not between 2003-2005. Just seems like a mix up in profiles with our Gary Roberts and Ipswich’s.

Contradicting yourself now! I have read before somewhere that he used to be at Crewe as a trainee i think.
