Manager Steve Davis is hopeful of adding teenage starlet Max Clayton to the list of players who have recently agreed new deals at Crewe Alexandra.

“He has a year left after this season, so we will resume them at the end of the season” – Steve Davis

The eighteen-year-old is currently contracted with the club until the summer of 2014 but preliminary discussions have already been held over extending that arrangement.

Crewe have recently managed to do exactly that regarding the likes of Harry Davis, Matt Tootle and Ben Garratt.

“We have had gentle talks with Max and his dad and at that moment in time he didn’t want to consider a new contract,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “I’m sure we will sit down with them again because we wouldn’t want his contract to run down too much. He has a year left after this season, so we will resume them at the end of the season.”
