The Head of the Referee’s League Department has cleared Matt Tootle’s name after the youngster was wrongly booked for diving during last weekend’s game at Barnet.

Tootle’s shout for a penalty after being brought down by the Barnet keeper in Saturday’s 2-1 win was turned away and instead it was Tootle who got penalised and a yellow card for apparently diving.

It enraged Dario who said that the referee was calling Tootle a cheat and with that calling himself (Dario) a cheat. Earlier this week Dario sent a complaint and DVD evidence off to the Referee’s League Department and today it was decided that Dario was right, as usual.

Speaking to CreweAlex.net, Dario said:

‘The Head of the Referee’s League Department was very supportive after reviewing the incident on DVD.

‘We were not looking to get anyone in trouble and I know the rules state that a yellow card cannot be rescinded but I wanted to clear Matt Tootle’s name and mine, if you like, and he can now see that he is not the villain of the piece.

‘The DVD will be used as an example at a forthcoming referee’s conference and that is probably all we could expect from it.’
