The “cat” is using up one of his nine lives, he has been reprieved of spell out on loan and will now challenge Ben Williams for a first team spot. Earlier in the summer the club had indicated that he would go on a season long loan.

Injury to Ben Williams has handed him the opportunity to stake a claim for the number 1 spot in the friendly match against Derby County on Wednesday. The management team have had a change of heart and now believe that he can challenge Ben Williams all the way.

Their has been doubt about the capability of all 3 goalkeepers at the club but Dario Gradi believes we are strong in that department Gradi told the official website ‘Stuart is a very good goalkeeper and I don’t think that there is too much to choose between him and Ben. We also have Owain fon Williams coming through, so we are quite strong in that department. The competition should be good”

What this means for Fon Williams is now unclear, he was expected to be Ben Williams understudy for the forthcoming season but we now have three goalkeepers challenging and the management team have indicated they may not put a keeper on the substitute bench in some matches next season.

We want your views? Are we strong in the goalkeeping department? What does the future hold for Fon Williams?
