Matt Tootle believes the summer training sessions at Crewe Alexandra are significantly important.

“Football can be very demanding and we have enough time off” – Matt Tootle

The Alex squad are due to return to full training on 25th June but the 22-year-old defender has in the meantime been busily attending a couple of sessions a week to build up until then.

“It can be a long hard season and the aim is to play as many games as you possibly can,” Tootle explained to Crewe’s official website. “Football can be very demanding and we have enough time off.

“I would much rather be in and working on my fitness and making sure I am really fit for the start of the season,” he continued. “That is what the summer sessions and the friendly games are for.”
