Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has stressed just how important the Christmas period is going to be.

“We want to get as many points as we can to give ourselves the best chance” – Steve Davis

There will be no traditional Christmas party as the Alex squad focus instead on picking up the points to get them moving back up the table.

After entertaining Shrewsbury Town this coming weekend, Crewe visit high-flying Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day before a trip to Colchester United three days later. They then face Carlisle United at Gresty Road on New Year’s Day.

“The Christmas period will be a time of hard work. It is a very intense time with four games in a short space of time,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “It is a very important three weeks and we want to get as many points as we can to give ourselves the best chance. That is the message we have been reflecting to the players and they know that.”
