Pretty much nothing happened today, but we’ll try and make an article out of the day anyway.

I suppose the most important bit of news is that Shaun Miller now faces the rest of the season out injured. The young striker went over on his ankle in training and caused some damaged. Steve Holland told The Sentinel that it’s down to his flexible ankle.

‘He’s got incredible flexibility in his ankle, which means he only has to be slightly off balance to go over and strain his ligaments.

‘As a result, he isn’t on the fringe of returning to the team in the immediate future.’

It leaves the Dutchman in a very tight place in regards to forward options. Tom Pope, Byron Moore, rookie Josh Thompson and Ryan Lowe at a push are the club’s only fit strikers.

Could that be about to change though? One rumour doing the rounds is Anthony Elding to come in on loan. The former Stockport striker turned the Alex down in January to join Leeds in a £200,000 deal. It is now thought that Leeds may well loan Elding to the Alex to gain some League One experience, but only if they can tie up Dougie Freedman on a loan deal from Crystal Palace – which is close to happening.

Finally, Saturday’s opponents Nottingham Forest are facing a minor injury crisis of their own. Kris Commons is now a major doubt for the weekend game, and could join Nathan Tyson and loanee Will Hoskins on the sidelines. Luke Chambers and Lewis McGugan are also doubts.
