Steve Holland hopes to tie up deals for two strikers and a midfielder this week. Following the signing of Legzdins this morning, the transfer action is well and truly underway at Gresty Road.

A midfield player has agreed terms and manager Holland hopes that transfer can be completed soon. It is thought to be Bournemouth’s Shaun Cooper, who was offered a deal by the club a couple of weeks ago. Cooper, 24, can play in both midfield and defence and has played over 100 games for the Dorset club since signing for them in 2005.

Two new strikers are also having talks with the club. We know one is Anthony Elding after Leeds United confirmed they had accepted a bid from the Railwaymen last week. The other looks certain to be Tranmere Calvin Zola, whilst a deal for Stevenage’s Steve Morison may not be far off either.

Elding will continue to have talks with the club today but it looks promising for the Alex, who have a league and location advantage over the likes of Darlington and Harlepool – two others interested in Elding. Elding is currently settled in the Stockport area with his partner having recently had a house built.

Zola meanwhile looks to have agreed terms and the matter of a work permit is holding the deal up. Crewe are thought to have agreed a fee with Tranmere for a lot less than the initially reported £200,000.

Stevenage’s Steve Morison also looks to be high on Holland’s wish list. The former Northampton hit man may also be in line for talks at the club this week after it is thought the Alex have made a bid for the striker.

Steve Holland though remains tight lipped in regards to names. After a year of missing out on so many players, Holland doesn’t want to scupper the deal by alerting other clubs to their interest in certain players.

Holland told crewealex.net: ‘We are as close as we can be without actually having anything concrete and we don’t want to talk about specific individuals until it is signed and sealed.

‘We hope to have something to announce soon on the strikers and they would both command a fee if that was too happen. We have also agreed terms with a midfielder and we hope he will sign sometime this week.’
