Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis admitted his side had simply come up against better quality after their 5-0 home defeat to MK Dons.

“The difference was really the quality they’ve got in terms of the whole team” – Steve Davis

The free-scoring visitors emphatically followed up a 6-1 victory against the
same opponents back in September to move themselves top of the table.

“It’s difficult to sum up,” Davis told
Crewe’s official website. “It wasn’t massively one sided at it seems, but they were very good in both boxes and that was the difference. They were very clinical, particularly first half.

“The difference was really the quality they’ve got in terms of the whole team,” he added. “They’re all comfortable on the ball. We tried to get close to them but we couldn’t, and we ended up chasing shadows at times.”
