In one of the least surprising transfers of the season, Kenny Lunt has returned on loan for a third spell at the club.
It was almost a matter of when, not if, Dario would bring back Lunt after Dario was named caretaker boss on Tuesday evening. To say Dario favours Lunt over most academy graduates would be an understatement.
Lunt left the club on a free to sign for Sheff Wed in 2006. He made over 400 appearances in his initial spell at Gresty Road after making his debut in 1997 as a 17 year old.
His spell at Wednesday became stuttery after his first season and towards the end of last season boss Brian Laws admitted there was no future for Lunt in Sheffield. He returned on loan in February to see out the season and help the Alex narrowly avoid relegation.
He made a return to the club for the second time today, signing a loan deal to stay here till January 3rd. With Michael O’Connor suspended for Saturday’s home match against Stockport and Steven Schumacher recovering from an operation he underwent this week, Lunt will be a welcome addition to the squad.
He’ll wear shirt number 33.
