Crewe Alexandra have completed the signing of Cardiff City midfielder Eli King on loan until January, becoming the ninth signing of the summer, with him assigned the number 20 shirt for his spell.
King, 19, has come through the academy set-up with the team from the Welsh capital before making his debut in October 2021 in a home defeat against Middlesbrough in the first of his 6 appearances for the club (including their Carabao Cup defeat against Portsmouth).
He has also represented Wales at both Under-17 and Under-21s, just missing out on being in the same squads with former Under-21 defender Billy Sass-Davies.
What will this signing mean?
He’s a box-to-box midfielder who has come in following the injury to Charlie Colkett in the Carabao Cup that would see the left-footed midfielder out for the next few months. This move could also see Tariq Uwakwe cover the wing positions (especially with Lachlan Brook also being injured for at least the next few weeks) as well as play in central midfield.
