The Atmosphere At Fort Gresty

When at a Crewe game, I sometimes wonder why I bother, as probably do many people, but I know I will see flashes of good football at times and plenty of goals.

However, while the players only play half the game to their full, and the defenders continue to back off when pressed, the crowd will never get fully behind the team properly. This creates a vicious circle, as the fans get more and more despondent as the team does worse, and so the team does even worse. It doesn’t help the the large section of our fans sit in the Air Products stand, as well as myself, and not a sound comes out of there unless the team is winning, they may clap, but definitely do not sing.

I believe there is a far too large percentage of the fans that only comes to a game every so often, and I also think it’s a miracle they have sold 2500 or more season tickets – I haven’t renewed mine yet – there’s no hurry as there is no discount involved, and I would rather just have the money, to be honest.

My conclusion? Try and sing and get behind the team please- we don’t need to be out sung by a couple of hudred Millwall fans again, please – it really doesn’t look good. Get behind the lads, and make sure they hear you!

I believe a lot have moved from the GRE to main stand and when you do start something off, people do join in…. excellent when the main stand is in full voice and full, not very often though.
