Crewe Alexandra teenager Max Clayton reckons he is now getting back to his best after suffering a recent crisis of confidence.

“I am the most confident I have been all season” – Max Clayton

The eighteen-year-old has admitted to struggling for form towards the end of last year after encountering injuries and a perhaps understandable dip in his impressive progress.

But a recent vote of confidence from his manager has witnessed the talented forward getting firmly back on track.

“In the first couple of months of the season I started well but I lost confidence for a while,” Clayton told the Crewe Chronicle. “I don`t know why that was, but then I got injured which was another low.

“But now I feel I am back to my best. I am the most confident I have been all season,” he added. “It is up to me, hopefully I can produce. If I get chances hopefully I can take them.”
