Promising teenager Ryan Colclough was having an operation today on his fractured jaw.

“It is a blow because it will now keep him for longer than we anticipated” – Steve Davis

However, manager Steve Davis now believes he could be out of action longer than originally anticipated due to a slight problem with the alignment of his jaw requiring it to be plated.

As a result the seventeen-year-old who has made a couple of senior appearances so far could be missing until the New Year.

“Ryan will undergo an operation today and he needs his jaw plating,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “It is a blow because it will now keep him for longer than we anticipated.”

Colclough recently made his debut as a substitute against Leyton Orient before suffering the injury following a stray elbow at MK Dons.
