Crewe’s on loan striker Gareth Taylor has been released by parent club Nottingham Forest. The 6’2 striker was on a fairly hefty wage at the City Ground, reported to be around £5k a week so Forest have been looking to rid him from their wage bill for some time now. During his loan spell at Crewe, Forest were believed to be paying £3.8k a week of his wages. Taylor scored 4 times in his 15 appearances for the club, though his aerial ability and link up play impressed many Crewe fans. Crewe boss Dario Gradi has stated that he is keen for Taylor to remain at Crewe, whilst the 33-year old has declared that he would be happy to stay at Crewe, though he will listen to other offers. Forest have also released Paul Gerrard, Paul Evans, Eugene Dadi and Eugen Bopp – who scored the goal which kept Crewe up in the 2004/05 season on the final day against Gillingham.

Meanwhile, Crewe midfielder Rob Lloyd has signed his one-year deal. Richie Sutton became the first to sign his deal last week. Juan Ugarte is also set for showdown talk with Crewe boss Dario Gradi once he returns from a holiday in Spain. Ugarte is expected to be asked whether he would rather leave by mutual consent or stay and fight for his place in the team.

The wages will be well low after this wipeout. I bet he has a superb next season or sommet.
