Crewe Alexandra are still busily involved in discussions with potential new signings after recently missing out on a couple of their targets.

“I have met a couple of players, made an offer to one and have others in place” – Neil Baker

Assistant manager Neil Baker remains confident of adding to the squad having only just lost out on Aldershot Town’s Danny Hylton and Sam Clucas of Hereford United.

Striker Hylton has since joined Alex’s opening day visitors Rotherham United while midfielder Clucas is set for League Two newcomers Mansfield Town.

“We have missed out on one or two but we have other targets in place,” Baker told Crewe’s official website. “I’ve been on the phone talking and putting things into place. I have met a couple of players, made an offer to one and have others in place.

“The aim is to bring better players into the club,” he stressed. “That is what we are striving to do.”
