Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis revealed talks are progressing well with a potential new winger as he continues to work on adding to his squad at Gresty Road.

The Alex boss has already held discussions with a couple of alternative targets after former loanee Billy Bodin joined Torquay United while Michael Coulson switched to York City.

“One came up from London and went back very impressed with what he saw,” he confirmed to Alex’s official website.

Davis has so far proved successful in strengthening his defence with tough-tackling centre-back Mark Ellis arriving from Torquay and ex-Scottish Under-21 international left-back Gregor Robertson coming in from Chesterfield.
