Swansea City are said to be keen on Owain Fon Williams after the young shot stopper turned down a new deal at Crewe.

The South Wales Evening Post say that Fon Williams is being lined up to be the Swans’ new number two ‘keeper as the future of current number two David Knight is in doubt.

It is thought that Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is keen on adding young Welsh players to the squad following their promotion to the Championship this season.

It’s not the first time Fon has been linked with a move to Swansea, with national newspapers also picking up on the rumour a couple of months ago. Williams has also been linked with the likes of Derby, Bolton and Blackburn.

Williams, who is out of contract this summer, was offered a new contract but quickly turned it down with the view of weighing up his options. He was one of four keepers that manager Steve Holland has offered the number one shirt to for next season, with current ‘keeper Ben Williams, who is also out of contract, Gretna’s Greg Fleming and Rhys Evans, who was recent released from Millwall.
