Premier League Swansea City are ready to make a move for Crewe Alexandra skipper Ashley Westwood, according to reports in South Wales.

The Swans were hoping to arrange a deal for the 22-year-old before the close of the transfer window on Friday evening.
Welsh international midfielder Joe Allen recently departed the Liberty Stadium for a club record fee of £15m to reunite with his former boss Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.
And that could spark some frenetic transfer activity in South Wales over the next few days with Pablo Hernandez (Valencia), Marvin Emnes (Middlesbrough) and Albert Adomah (Bristol City) each linked with moves into the Premiership.
Meanwhile, Crewe’s stylish skipper Westwood is another of the names being mentioned after fifteen goals in 137 appearances since progressing through the youth system at Gresty Road.
“We are looking at a couple of young players to bring in as we start thinking about our future a little bit,” Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post. “We are looking at our current first-team squad, but at the same time we have the aim of making sure we have players we can bring through at the club.”
Westwood was only recently appointed skipper at the Alex in succession to David Artell, who was released by the club at the end of last season.
