Anthony Elding, a transfer target from the summer, has been suspended by Stockport County for breach of contract. The 25 year old striker has been suspended for seven days whilst his club investigate a potential breach of contract.

Stockport say that their top scorer may have had direct or indirect contact with another club over a transfer move. Elding has rejected all accusations.

Elding was a target throughout the summer, with reports of bids going in for him. However, no move materialised and Elding played in the pre-season friendly game at Gresty Road for Stockport.

Todays news may now open the door for the Alex to step in, assuming we aren’t the supposed club he’s had contact with!

With relations between Stockport and Elding seemingly breaking down rather publicly, it’d be nice to see Dario & Holland show a tad of ambition and go for Elding, even if it is a rather cheeky loan bid.

Elding has scored 17 goals in just 28 league games for Stockport, including seven this season. Dario & Holland can search high and low for a new striker, but I think they’ll be hard pushed to find a better player inside our budget to solve our striker problems.
