Defender Adam Dugdale scored a late winner as Crewe Alexandra enjoyed the luxury of back-to-back victories at Walsall.

Dugdale fired in from close-range when Billy Waters’ 84th minute corner was only partially cleared.

Crewe had already threatened early with Brad Inman narrowly wide at the far post from skipper Matt Tootle’s cross.

Striker Febian Brandy also went close against his former club as goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell saved on the line at the second attempt.

Both Anthony Grant and Ollie Turton similarly called O’Donnell into action with additional efforts.

Walsall found their own opportunities somewhat restricted, although Ben Garratt was required to turn over Jordan Cook’s chipped attempt.

Meanwhile, Mathieu Manset and Romaine Sawyers were each wide of the mark as their side slipped into the bottom four.
