Goalkeeper Steve Phillips has successfully undergone an operation to remove a lump on his knee.

“His knee is in excellent condition and he has had the lump successfully removed” – Steve Davis

The 34-year-old is currently recovering at home before beginning his rehabilitation on the training ground.

Phillips is likely to remain unavailable for somewhere between four and six weeks, although he was hoping to return to action sooner. Scot Alan Martin will continue in his absence after impressing during the opening games.

“Steve has successfully undergone his operation and has come through it well,” manager Steve Davis confirmed to Crewe’s official website. “His knee is in excellent condition and he has had the lump successfully removed.”
