Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is still to make a final decision on trialist former Wigan Athletic striker Nathan Ellington.

“It is just a question of him being able to last games” – Steve Davis

The 31-year-old has missed the majority of the season after being released by Ipswich Town last month and is still working his way back to fitness.

However, Davis has been impressed by the application of a player who has also scored goals for Bristol Rovers, West Bromwich Albion and Watford.

“I think he is happy here and he knows he has got to remain patient. He is very calm and knows where the net is,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “It is just a question of him being able to last games and having that same energy and movement like he has had in his career.”

Ellington scored his third goal in as many games for Crewe’s development side in a 1-1 draw with former club Wigan on Monday afternoon.
