Striker Nathan Ellington has been rewarded with a short-term contract at Crewe Alexandra until the end of the season.

The well-travelled 31-year-old has already scored in three Under-21 league games for the Alex since arriving on trial last month.

Bradford-born Ellington has previously struck goals for both Wigan Athletic and West Bromwich Albion but had been looking for a club after being released by Ipswich Town in January.

He currently has a total of 147 goals in 497 career appearances since beginning his career at Bristol Rovers, and has also served Watford as well as loans with Derby County, Preston North End and Scunthorpe United.
