Steve Davis has backed striker Mathias Pogba to be a big hit for Crewe Alexandra in League One this season.

The 21-year-old marksman has already scored half-a-dozen times during pre-season since joining Alex from Wrexham last month.

“Pogs is a handful for any defender,” Davis told the Crewe & Nantwich Guardian. “He’s big, strong, quick and has ability to take goals. He’s going to be a bit raw because he hasn’t been in the professional game for long, but he’ll only improve. He’s different to what we have had and that is what makes him an asset.”

Pogba netted twelve goals in 42 games to help Wrexham take the runners-up spot in the Conference last term.
