Latest signing Mathias Pogba joined Crewe Alexandra on the strength of their smooth and passing style of ‘Spanish’ football.

The 21-year-old French striker scored a dozen times for Wrexham last season as they progressed to the play-offs in the Conference before eventually completing a move to Crewe for a nominal fee.

And the brother of former Manchester United midfielder and recent Juventus acquisition Paul believes he will positively flourish in the pure football ethos at Gresty Road.

“It is a great opportunity for me to come and join a good club,” Pogba told This is Staffordshire. “My agent rang me to tell me Crewe were interested and I knew that this would be the club for me.

“I saw Crewe in the League Two play-off games and they play really good football,” he continued. “I think I will fit in well. I’ve played in Spain before and Crewe play like a Spanish team, trying to pass the ball and attack.

“I’ve spent time in the Conference and now I feel as though I’m ready to make the step up.”
