Crewe Alexandra striker Mathias Pogba is expected to make his long-awaited return over the festive period.

“We’re having to hold him back a little because he’s desperate to start playing” – Steve Davis

The 23-year-old hasn’t featured since hurting himself in a pre-season friendly with Manchester United.

However, Pogba has recovered from the knee injury and is now back in training.
He could even be amongst the substitutes at Coventry City this weekend.

“Mathias is building up his fitness and confidence up now,” manager Steve Davis told the Crewe & Nantwich Guardian. “We’re gradually easing him in.

“Pogs has been out all season so we’ve got to be cautious, but he’s anxious to get back,” he warned. “We’re having to hold him back a little because he’s desperate to start playing.”

Last week Pogba signed a new contract keeping him at Gresty Road until at least the summer of 2015.
