Crewe Alexandra’s talented striker Max Clayton has been named in the England Under-19 squad for their forthcoming friendly in Germany on 6th September.

The eighteen-year-old could make his first appearance at that level in Hamburg and is joined by former team-mate Nick Powell, now of Manchester United, who has also been included.

Clayton’s selection means the highly-rated teenager may though miss the Alex’s home meeting with Tranmere Rovers just two days later.

Crewe manager Steve Davis already signed Manchester City youngster Harry Bunn on a six-month loan earlier this week to offer additional cover in attack.
