Striker Nicky Ajose revealed he had several other clubs interested before returning on loan to Crewe Alexandra for the rest of the season.

“I had a few options, but I always wanted to stay” – Nicky Ajose

The 23-year-old Leeds United marksman netted three goals in five games for the Alex prior to Christmas but insists there is plenty more to come from him.

“I had a few options, but if it was possible and the clubs could agree something, then I always wanted to stay here,” Ajose told the Crewe Chronicle. “I started off quite well and I still feel like I’ve got more to offer, so I guess it feels like a bit of unfinished business. To be able to get something sorted so quickly was pleasing for me.

“The club has done a lot for me and it is nice to feel wanted,” he added. “Hopefully I can repay them with my performances.”
